Hey all,
The other day my Panasonic DVD S-53K quit displaying the DVD splash screen, so I can't use any of the menu buttons on the remote. It won't play any video but will play the audio of my .avis. Store bought DVDs that it should and have played in the past show up as No Play in the LED display.
I thought I might try to re install the firmware before scrapping it but can find no source for it. Can anyone help with that?
Also I've read that even if I were to find a firmware file, flashing it can't be done by burning it to a CD like you can with alot of players, has to be done with a special remote. This true?
If so, and I can't fix this thing for less than the price of a Philips DVP 5990, I guess I'll go that route.
Thanks for any help.

If the firmware isn't available from the manufacturers website, then you are likely out of luck. As to the process, if it can't be done by CD, it isn't worth messing with in my opinion.
