Hi, i'm new to this great forum, I need help to extract a softsub that came with a movie, the subtitle is in english and i want to remove it and add an external .srt subtitle using convertX to DVD at the moment of recording the file to a DVD using this guide http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/158/59/

I tried using MKVextract but it only shows the Video track and the Audio track, i don't know why it doesn't appear the Subtitle track, MKVExtract 1.6.4.1 says:

    Track ID 1: video (V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC)
    Track ID 2: audio (A_AC3)

And that's it, i wouldn't mind having both subtitle in the dvd and i can choose which to use but i read that ConvertX to DVD can't record .mkv files with softsubs so i have to remove it and add the extra subtitle using convertx, hope someone can help me find a way to do this, Thanks in advance. Any information you may need just ask.

    Danilux.

Try open the mkv with latest mkvmerge (included in mkvtoolnix). Does it mention any subtitles?
And are you sure that is is SOFTsubs? Can you disable the subtitles when you play the mkv?

Yes i can disable it, Anyway now it worked like a charm,i removed the subtitle, Weird thing that now it showed the sub track, Now that i have all in place
do you recommend me to burn the .mkv file and add the sub with convertxtodvd or first convert it to avi and then to dvd?

I want to keep the most quality as the mkv as posible, wich method is better to acomplish this.

    Thanks Baldrick.
