will the toshiba hd dvd player play the dvd audio music cds

I think they do. You'll have to scrounge the net for a manual of the particular model you are looking to get.
Though you will have to make sure your amplifier supports dvd audio. You either need multi channel input (ie 6 audio input jacks for the independent channels - but the dvd player would also have to have the six channel output). Or you'd have to have hdmi on both the hddvd and amplifier for it to work.
If I'm not mistaken I believe dvd audio is 96khz so your amp will have to be able to playback at that rate also.
In short I'm pretty certain they do but I don't think they all do. Just read the fine print before you do.
JUst remember of course there won't be any new HD-DVD movies as it is dead. Also DVD Audio isn't exactly tearing up the town either......
