Hello. The search is offline and I manually looked back 5 pages to see if this was addressed.
I am trying to encode a rip of the new Tron 20th Anniversary DVD. I have pulled the Vobs, have my audio, and D2V project. Everytime I encode to MPG2 and try to watch for results I get no picture. Audio, but no picture. I have tried to use different settings such as VBR, CQ etc and different picture sizes to no avail. I have tried to play it in the MediaPlayer and my soft DVD player. I am using WinDVD and Windows XP. My encoded MPG2 says it is using the InterVideo codec when I look at properties when playing in the MediaPlayer. Also, when I play using the MediaPlayer it says it couldn't download the codec and then plays the file with the audio and a black screen. Also, tried TMPGEnc 12a and 2.1 to encode. Thanks.

UPDATE: I have finally gotten it to work, but I MUST use the standard template! I have to leave the output size at 480X480. I can't use any non-standard sizing on the video. I can change the video aspect ration crap, but nothing with the actual size. This is a load of crap, my new computer does little good if I can't do what I want. Help is much needed and appreciated. Thanks.

  3. Define MUST use the standard template what happens if you don't? Your computer locks up, TMPGenc won't encode, final MPEG has problems, MPEG is ok but standalone won't play, etc. etc.

Don't forget that if you change anything you're making an xSVCD. what settings do you want and how are you inputting/enabling them?

  4. Hi!

If you want to backup any of your own DVDs, Camera films, VHS films
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(for DVDs) Use DVDx 1.7 + AVIWRAPPER and TMPGEnc 2.51
    (for Camera,...) Use TMPGEnc 2.51

    In DVDx:

Resolution of 480x480(576 if PAL) or 720x480(576) with SSE Bicubic
RGB output (only CCE accept YVY2)

In TMPGEnc you will have to use:

    VBV=112
Resolution of 480x480(576 if PAL) or 720x480(576).
Motion Search Quality: High or Very High

    CBR/CQ_VBR/VBR/2-Pass VBR can be used

PS: Sound should have bitrate + or = 160 Kbits/s to get good quality
Video should have bitrate + or = 2100 Kbits/s to get good quality

This should be enough to get something ok

Donīt use resolutions that are different from these! MANY standalone players canīt deal with them displaying jerky video or none at all...

Okay. First, if I don't use the SVCD template then I get no video in the resulting MPG and thus no video if I burn that to a SVCD. If I use the regular 480X480 template that comes with TMPGEnc then I get video on the computer and on the player if burned. I DO want to do SxVCD so that I get get variations in quality in a small package. Second, my player can handle non-compliant formats. I have a Pioneer that will play crazy stuff including 99 CDR. The problem is that if I can't get a non-standard mpg to even play on the computer then how will I ever do a non-standard SVCD. I had no problems on the old 400mhz PII, granted it took forever to encode, but I could do it.

So basically I am now saying how do I do non-standard SxVCD MPGs. TMPGEnc templated MPG2s will play, but not the ones that are SxVCD from say Sefy's templates. System is as stated above and again:

    Athlon XP
    Windows XP
    WinDVD player
TMPGEnc 12a or 2.0 being tried
TRON 20th DVD to SxVCD is the process

  6. I Believe the problem is my SxVCD Template, i've attached a new set of Templates to your email, try them out and let me know, I suggest you just encode like 5 min or so to make sure you get the picture on the playback.

  7. I was going to say, I had the same problem and it started when I loaded one of the templets from last year. Once loaded it seemed nothing would would get me back to something that worked. I ended up useing a different version of tmp.... without loading a templet and all was well. Since I am just doing clips, I do not need to worry much about file size.
Are the new templets available for download?
