  1. After capturing a movie clip from a DV comcorder with Premiere 6.0 (Windows XP profesional, NTFS), editing it and exporting it to avi file (with Microsoft DV-NTSC encorder), I cannot open it in TMGEnc 2.51 to convert to MPEG2. When I try to open it I get a message: "Could not open the file: "filename" - ivalid or unsupported file". When I try to open the original clip I captured with Premiere - there is no problem (when I press properties option for both of these clips in Premiere, they both have the same settings - the only difference is the file size - the original captured clip is much bigger - I've cut a lot during editing).

Also, when I try to play both clips in the Windows Media Player, I do not have the problem.

I just cannot think what the problem could be. One more thing. When I try to use this file as a sound source in the TMGEnc, it opens it without problem.

    Thanks for your help.

I was having the same problem. It's something to do with the audio being in the wrong format expected of the video.

You have to Demultiplex the avi file, this strips out the audio; then Multiplex the audio back in to the avi.

It's a lot simpler to do than it sounds, use Virtualdub. Brief instructions can be found here http://www.vcdhelp.com/faq.htm#demultiplex, search for the How Do I demultiplex section. Just below it, is the How Do I multiplex instructions.

  3. I have w2k pro/ntfs and when I capture a DV file thru Premiere, it'll open in Tmgenc v2.50 with no problems. But I get an error and cannot open the same file with VDub v1.4.8!

    Codec probs?

I wanted to try some of the VDub filter's when I found out my caps wouldn't take.
