On Tuesday Paramount Home Entertainment is issuing the three films that make up Mr. Coppola’s “Godfather” saga, miraculously rejuvenated by a team of digital restoration experts under the supervision of the film preservationist Robert A. Harris. Offered both in high-definition Blu-ray and standard DVD editions, Mr. Coppola’s three films seem to have reclaimed the golden glow of their original theatrical screenings — a glow that has been dimmed and all but extinguished over the years through a series of disappointing home video editions.

FYI if you're still looking for a reason to get bluray and you're not into Godfathcer - MATRIX will finally be on BLURAY as well.
However I am not buying it on BLURAY as I still have my HDDVD set that still works just fine. Until my HDDVD add on for the 360 dies I'm not rebuying the set.
Only downer is RELOADED doesn't want to play while hooked up tot he 360. It does on the pc but not the 360 which is odd.... But the dvd version works ok.....Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

I picked up the trilogy on BluRay the day I was wandering through BB and saw it on the shelf. I've never owned a copy of it because I was always waiting for Criterion to pick it up. I watched the first one and it does look pretty good, however I think the audio ended up being the most improved. Just remember that the film transfer still includes the film noise on screen but I think that adds to the character of the film.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
@rallynavvie - yes I have a bluray pc drive as well as a ps3. It's just I won't re-buy my hddvd movies on bluray until my hddvd drive wears out. I've got 7 or 8 hddvds I think (that includes the matrix trilogy).

maybe BR burners and discs will become reasonably priced and you can rip your HD-DVDs and burn to BR.
I finally bought a BluRay movie this past week.
Sure, I got the free discs for buying a PS3, but mainly picked those I thought I could get the highest trade credit for at GameStop.
My first BR purchase was Disney's Sleeping Beauty...
If it hadn't also come with the new remastered re-release on DVD as well, I wouldn't have bought the BR version though."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright
