  1. Through a lot of help from you guys here in the forums and from a lot of trial and error (threw away about 20 bad VCDs just this weekend) I think I finally have a perfect method for converting DIVX files to VCD so that they will play on my DVD player, and I'm well on the way to having the method down with SVCD as well.

    I have one question however:

The latest DIVX->VCD guide on this site says that if the incomming file is 23.976 frames per second, I should use the VCD (NTSC Film) template. If it's 29.97fps use the VCD (NTSC) template. Almost all the DIVX files I had were 23.976fps so I used the NTSC Film template. The resulting VCD would play PERFECT on my computer, but when put in my DVD player the video would speed up and slow down and get WAY out of sync with the audio. I then tried the whole process again using the NTSC template and the resulting VCD looks and plays just fine in my DVD player.

I have a Apex AD-1500 player. Could it be that it will only work correctly with NTSC disks that have a frame rate of 29.97? Has anybody else ever experienced this? I can just go along encoding my movies now at 29.97fps, but I would like to know why I can't use the NTSC Film like everything says I am supposed to.

  2. Just sounds like your dvd player has poor FILM support. I've tried FILM on mine so it works fine. It's a pitty that they don't advertise these sort of things on the box.

  3. I have had the same problem with my apex660 plays along great than all the sudden it goes really fast then back to normal for awhile. Then really fast again. Ususally does this five or six times in the movie. My solution was to make svcd using the film template. It has a 3:2 on playback. Works great just you have an svcd in the end.
