    Hi there

I am new to all this and wanted some advice on how best to set up place to be able to wirelessly stream avi files around. I am currently setup with a wireless network and have a laptop and XBox360 on this. My files are currently on an external HD plugged into my Xbox via the USB.

I want to be able to view my files on at least one other TV in the house (my bedroom) but I don't know the best way and ideally the cheapest way to do this.

Am I looking at a server as a central store for my files that my Xbox, and laptops can connect to and replacing my DVD player in the bedroom for a media centre type thing that can also access my files wirelessly and play them?

Can anyone help and recommend any hardware?

    Thanks

What I use is a couple of computers full of hard drives for my video servers. I can access any of the videos on those hard drives from any computer on the LAN. I use VLC and Media Player Classic on each computer to display the files. One of the computers has a wireless adapter, the others are hardwired to the LAN. Several other ways to do all this.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thanks Redwudz

I don't suppose you know of a purpose built media centre that I can get to replace my DVD player, as I don't want to use a PC in the bedroom. (The Mrs wouldn't cope)?
