I've been experimenting with the USB on my PS3. I tried DVD files and noticed it would
play the vobs w/o any problem. So I just transferred some movies over to the external Hard disk
I was using by putting each of them into their own folder. However some of the vobs play fine and some
have no audio. I find it strange that one vob from a movie plays with audio and the next just doesn't.
When I click on audio on the PS3 remote it indicates no audio.
Am I doing something wrong or is the PS3?

I haven't tried that in awhile with my ps3. Is it a fat32 drive? Could the vob be over 4gbs and not being recognized by the ps3?

Also is it a dts or dobly track? It shouldn't matter for the ps3 since it does both but perhaps make note of it and see if it makes a difference. Then you might need to rerip the dolby track. - if it is dts don't forget to try it through your amp and not the tv as there are practically 0 tvs with a dts encoder built in meaning you'll need to use a dts enabled amp....

just some ideas to kick around.

I ran into this problem last week with vob files (no ifos) on a dvd with the PS3. The 1st vob in a titleset played with audio but the remaining vobs had no audio. The vobs had two AC3 audio tracks.

If the vob files were converted to mpegs using Mpeg-vcr (no re-encoding), they would play with audio.

Have you noticed only the 1st vob played with audio?
