  1. I have 2 mpg (mpeg2) files that I need to convert to DVAVI for use in Premiere. It was suggested that I use DVAVI instead of uncompressed avi as uncompressed avi would be too large.

Can someone PLZ tell me how to do this?

    Thanks!

ps- I originally tried to use vfapi to use the mpg's in premiere, but all I get is crashing every time I try to encode with videoserver and cce. It crashed 5 times and I need another option so I though converting to avi may work better.

I would open your Video with DVD2AVI, then create a d2v file as you do with ripping a DVD and frameserve that to TMPG to encode.

or rather than save it as a project for the d2v output, you could save it as an avi, and choose your DV codec as it's compression.

If this is still too much room, what about installing the Mpeg 2 codec in your system, trying to open the source file in Vdub, and frameserving to either Premiere or TMPG.
