  1. Hi All
Can someone give me the ins and outs of Authoring Progressive scan DVD menus?
Will a player not capable of prog. scan still play them?
Are they much clearer than interlaced in a motion menu?
Which authoring progs are capable of creating them?

    Thanks in advance...

A menu is a menu. It is either a still image menu, which will display as interlaced on an interlaced display, and progressive on a progressive display, or a motion menu, which uses video encoded with the same restrictions as any other DVD video footage. That is, NTSC @ 23.976 fps with 3:2/2:3 pulldown, or 29.976 fps, or PAL @ 25 fps (interlaced or progressive).

Whenever you are designing a menu you should aim to address possibly interlacing issues by avoiding thin horizontal or angled lines, and serif fonts or fonts with thin horizontal features.
