  1. Well, i have had this thing going on 3 years or so now. It was given to me. Well, i was going to ask if someone would know the best quality setting for this device?

All i do with the program and device is record my gameplay. I record my gameplay from my, Xbox360. I post them up on youtube and etc. When i wrestle i record my matches and use WinTV2000 to record the match to my HD and post it up on youtube and to have for other things. I use WinTV2000 to record them. But, i noticed that there is a WinTV2004, BeyondTV or something like that. When i install it, the program does not do anything. It will not detect my 360 display on the program so i can't record anything. I have played with it for hours and several times at that.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Is there a Patch or something to download for certain people or anything?

If you are not sure of the device i am using. Here is a link to it: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/produ...a_pvrusb2.html

    Help would be much appreciated.

  2. The Hauppauge PVR devices are hardware MPEG2 encoders. All programs will deliver the same quality at the same settings. Just use what works. Use the settings that give the quality you want.

There really is no reason to use anything but WinTV2000 unless WinTV2004 is an updated version? I'm not sure what WinTV2004 is exactly but even if it is an updated version it most likely is just the interface ... I can't imagine it giving you better or worse quality.

I would avoid BeyondTV as this is really for recording from TV and it actually limits your recording parameters.

The "BEST" recording would be a CBR of 15,000 for the video with 384kbps MP2 audio. However this is not "in spec" for the DVD Video format. If you want the best quality that will also be DVD Video format compliant then do a CBR of 9,000 for the video with 384kbps MP2 audio. I would then convert the MP2 audio to AC-3 format with a bitrate of 256kbps being a good choice.

  4. The biggest problem you're going to have is the interlacing. For YouTube you will want to deinterlace. Specifically for Youtube you might consider using the VCD template or make your own MPEG 2 template with a 352x240 resolution and 2000+ kbps bitrate.

  5. Well, since there is no reason to get Beyond or the 2004 one. That is all i really wanted to know. I really don't want to convert. That is what i am trying to avoid. I want to just take it after recording and put it up on youtube. I use to use Adobe Premier 3.0. But, i would have to convert it before i put it in the program.

Most of the time when i try to customize my own setting to record in. It lags real bad. I don't know why. However, it really does a good job when i get it to start working.

Here is one of the videos i recorded and uploaded on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmO9lqNQ6Ls

It looks really good. I really appreciate the replies. I am going to try the VCD at 352x240 res and a 2000+kbps bitrate like you said, jagabo.

    I really appreciate this fellas.
