Yep I finally bought a DS LITE today. I like itBeautiful screens. I have a few gba games but haven't popped them in just yet to see how they play. It's a shame it won't play original gameboy games according to the manual. I do have the original tetris cartridge for the bw gb and it still works in my gba sp.
My only game I have so far for the DS is GUITAR HERO - SWEET!
Now the controls are a bit funky. I don't have small hands but not huge hands either and its slightly uncomfortable. BUT it is cool to have a portable guitar game. What I do like from it so far after playing three or four songs is the freedom of motion using the guitar pick for the screen. That makes it feel more like playing a guitar then even the full size console controllers. Granted the distribution of playing the DS on its side is a bit strange.
What games are good? I'm not too heavy into rpg but I think there is a ZELDA game specifically for the DS now isn't there? How about the classics like Mega Man and TMNT?
I'm interested in all those new edge DS games designed for the touch interface. What is BRAIN AGE or something??? What ones really use the features of the DS???
I got the black model and it looks pretty sharp - I also have a BLACK ZUNE so it looks good together(though the ZUNE is a flat black and the DS is a shiny finish - already fingerprints on it though - DOH!).

Castlevania. Any of them.

Sounds good. I'll check them out.
Now since I do have a WII but hardly play it this sounds interesting - from wikipedia naturally:
On May 7, 2008, Nintendo released the Nintendo Channel for download on the Wii. The Nintendo Channel uses Nintendo's WiiConnect24 to download Nintendo DS demos through the Nintendo Channel. From there, a person can select the game demo they wish to play and, similar to the Nintendo DS Download Stations at retail outlets, download the demo (temporarily) to their DS.
Like I said I hardly play the WII anymore. I'll have to check this out and see if I can get it going with my DS. I'd love to have instant demos at home then see which ones I'd want.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
The Brain Age games are great. I would also recommend the following:
Professor Layton
Drawn to Life: Spongebob (seriously!)
The Simpsons game
Mario & Luigi
New Super Mario Bros
(pretty much all the Mario games)
Zelda Phantom Hourglass
Kirby Squeek Squad
A must-have is some kind of slot-1 card. That gives you access to a ton of homebrew (even Guitar hero clones). Check gbatemp.net for info on homebrew and cards. There's even ports of Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein and old arcade classics. They can also turn your DS into a music/video player and book reader. -
@supreme2k - Thanks - I'll definitely look into the mario and zelda games.
slot-1 eh? I checked out gameboy-advance.net but they had some pretty pricey homebrew adapters for the DS. What type are you recommending??? PM please if you want. - EDIT nevermind - best not to delve into this in the open if you catch my meaning.
I'll do some more surfing on my own. I"ll pm if I have questions.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
definitely New Super Mario Bros!!!
there were some bad-ass Castlevania and Metroid games for GBA that your DS will play.
also some pretty sweet media players out there that utilize both slots - one card for hte DS slot to load/run the player, one device for the GBA slot to store your media. video, music, pics, whatever. some have up to 80G of storage."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

I went to gamestop today and picked up Supermario 64 ds, Zelda Hourglass DS, and Break 'em all (an arkanoid clone).
I'll have some fun with these. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Keep em coming.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
