i remember this being a topic of someones but i forget what the answer was, my question is when i'm convert from avi to vcd it says an illegal floating decimal point calculation order, what is that, i have a file that is in avi and i got the wav from it from virtual dub, so what is wrong?
i also have these questions first questions is i format an avi file into tnmpeg and it settings are 650X352 how do i get it full screen on a dvd player like when u burn it as a vcd it only shows up some of the screeen and i have selected the full screen option but u have to play around with the resolution like the 500X300 to get full screen. so how do i know what resolution i need for different videos with different resolutions?
second when i convert the avi file into a vcd and burn it then i use my dvd player to watch it it has a green line at the top and it flickers during the movie, it is very annoying how can i fix that? please mesage me thanks.

It's not that people cannot help you with your questions; rather, people will not answer a question if it has been asked a million times before. The forum search function is a good place to start when searching for knowledge. You can always post your question lest you fail in finding the answer on the forum. Anyway, here's the answers to your questions:
1.) The error message you keep getting refers to the fact that your AVI has corrupt frame(s). You'll need to download Virtual Dub from this site, and then open your AVI with it. Find the bad frames by moving the slider to aprox. the same time (in the movie) that Tmpgenc quit on you. Select the last good frame before this point as the end of your source. Save this part of the video as a direct stream copy and name it something like (name)1. Then, try to locate the first good frame after the glitch. Use this point as the begining of your source. Save this part in the same way, only name it (name)2. You can join your encoded mpeg's in tmpgenc when you are ready to burn this to a (s)VCD.
2.) To get full-screen video, go into the settings in Tmpgenc, and select "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio 2)". If your source is widescreen, this will cut of some of the sides. If you don't like this, you'll have to live with the letterbox effect. I personally would not do this. . .divx's are compressed to begin with, so they look even worse (pixelated, macro-blocky) as full-screen video. I say just leave the letterbox there and live with it. Hope this has helped you! -
do u know anythign about the green line that is about 3 inches high and the whole screen across?? it doesn't show up in virtual dub, what settings do u have for everythign and i will try that to see if i can find out what is wrong

I've never seen this Green Line you are refering to(is it just with one movie ...or with all)?
I use the Custom setting myself (and set the width and height testing it with Preview to see fit).
Unfortunately it does tend to "egg head" the actors ..but if you can live with it then it works fine. -
its in all the movies that i do. someone sadi that i have to match up the 4:3 like the source to the movie that i get so it is the same, so if i have coyote ugly 4:3 and i want a vcd i make it 4:3 but how do i know if it is the same source when the movie doens't say and i don't want egghead people i want full screen perfect casue if i can do that without the green line i will love it

Ha-Ha...I wish it was that easy.
But ,unfortunately I don't think thats the case.
If you want info on a file.
try using Virtualdub>open file>then File>File Information
or
try to find something in the Tools section to your left.
I find it strange that all your movies have this green line?
Are you using the loaded templates in TMPGE or loading your own info? -
loading my own info is that the problem then, and i should just go with the template?
