I have over 50 avi files I need to merge. I'm looking for a program that will output the same bitrate, frame rate and audio rate without having the videos go out of sync.

In case you're wondering, all video and audio are encoded at 3000kbps and 224kbps respectively.

I've tried Allok Video Joiner & Ultra Video Joiner but they go out of sync and Avi Demux & Virtual dub are just terrible!

    Suggestions are welcomed
    Thanks

AVI Demux is reliable, generally doesn't cause sync problems, and is a far better option that any payware joiner I have seen.

That said, it may depend on what is actually inside your avi files. What codecs are you using ?

    I use Divx 5/6.7

The problem I have with Avi Demux; i'll try to explain this the best I can. If a start appending 3 or 4 files, the output will generate 1 to 2 secs of sound from previous files.

For example, once the files are merged, on playback I will hear 1-2 secs of file 3 on file 4 and so on and so forth. It's really annoying.

I'm not sure if anyone has ever experienced anything similar, if so, is there a setting that needs tweaking to prevent that from happening. The version I use is Avidemux 2.4 (r3600)

That is now a pretty old build - might be time to update

  6. Recent SVN build?

Did you allow it to rebuild frames/index VBR? You can manually rebuild frames by tools=>rebuild frames

How did you encode these .avi files? What software? What audio codec?

I am not sure if this is related, but AviDemux has a big problem with files at 24.97fps with pulldown.

Actually another related problem (but only for .mp4 container) is encoding output is VFR

If you are encoding, the .mp4 wrapper is b0rked right now for the last few revisions (VFR encodes instead of CFR), there is a patch in the development thread. But all copying is affected. But AVI container doesn't support VFR, should it shouldn't be affected in the OP's case
