Up until a day or so ago I was able to retrieve YouTube videos from my temporary internet files folder, I could copy them and paste and rename them Now they show up in the "Temp" folder but as a file with a name like "fla5.tmp" and I can't copy it. When YouTube is closed out, the file disappears.

The only way I've found to keep the file is to hit the "reset" button on the computer and restart. Obviously not practical. So what's the story? Why is this happening? I could use Vdownloader to capture the low quality version but there are times when I want the high quality mp4 version.

Anyone have any insight to this issue?

Have you tried a tool like videocacheview that monitors the temp folder ?

Seems to work, I appreciate it!

However, I'm still wondering about the change. Is YouTube directing where the files get stored? I haven't changed anything on my end.

You should also try sites like KeepVid, which allow you to download the YT vids....I like KeepVid because it allows higher-quality downloads (if they exist on YT) as mp4s.
