I'm not sure what's wrong, but Windows Media Player 9 sometimes (but not always) plays the audio on DVDs wierd. The music plays fine (at normal volume), but the dialogue is barely audible (even at max. volume). I can't just turn it up though, because the music gets way too loud. I think the problem has something to do with playing 5.1 audio on a laptop, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
This includes store bought DVDs, rips, and demuxed audio.

I have-or rather had-AC3Filter. I probably just had it set up wrong.

 What setting should I use?
-
Increase the gain in AC3 filter configuration (slide the bar up). Make sure the AC3 box is checked off in the 5th tab (system) "use AC3filter for"

You can try adjusting the other configuration options, like voice, etc...until you think it "sounds right" for your tastes. Eg. I have my "voice" setting at 10 in the 3rd tab (gains)

Seems to work. It's still a bit off, but it's watchable. Voice gains are all the way up. The only thing I can do now is try to drop the music a bit.

I do wonder why it plays the voice so low. The music was fine.
