I have been putting videos up at live video using Windows movie maker. It was really unstable until my great-grandson edited my registry and while it still crashes, it is about 90% more stable than it was.
I had a friend that had pinnacle studio media suit version 10.5 titanium edition that he sold me for $10. I knew that they would be a learning curve to using this software but I never dreamed it would be this challenging.

I have spent the last 7 1/2 hours trying to figure out why it won't recognize my camera (a Sony cyber shot DSC -- T200 ) to import from. Also why my application looks different -- -- no timeline evident when it comes up. I am retired so I am willing to put forth some time and energy on research but it is not as easy for a person of my age as it is with my great-grandchildren. The problem with my great-grandchildren is that when I asked them how to do something -- they want to do it themselves and I end up learning nothing.

I am thinking it may be best for me to just stick with Windows movie maker but I have invested so much time and energy, plus I don't like to give up and I hate for something to whip me. I believe that part of my problem may be that I have to set it for either NTS or pal -- which will be in on my next try.

    Thanks for letting me vent

  2. When you plug your digital camera into your computer (or the flash card into the flash card reader) it appears as an external drive. Use Windows Explorer to go to that drive and copy the files to a suitable location on your hard drive. Then import the video file into Studio or WMM.

WMM is designed to lock you into Windows media format. Pinnacle Studio is the buggiest piece of software ever written.

Thanks so much for the reply. Wmm has really been good to me because I am so new and it is so simple to use.

I finally got Pinnacle going a little but have really got a lot to learn. I have put that program through a lot trying to learn and it never once, even burped. Anything that can handle me trying to learn and not crash has to be stable. I crashed sony vegas 8 twice, my friend could not believe it, but it was on his computer. I wanted to see what it was like in case Pinnacle didn't work out, but so far so good.
