2 problems for anyone who knows how to use video pack 5.
Problem 1:
Im using an mpeg for a motion background and it was coded using the tmpeg coder for a 16:9 ratio. But the menu on play back (DVD-VOB format) will be full screen 4:3 ratio. Any way to fix that? Once an option is chosen to view the chapters ofcourse it switches to 16:9. but im trying to keep the menu 16:9 as well.
Problem 2:
On playback for DVD-VOB format, the video will play back very choppy, it seems its playing faster then its suppose to be and it will stop for seconds at a time to let the audio catch up.
Any help on these 2 topics would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

AFAIK, if the clip is 720X480 (or near that), it's going to be 4:3.
What resolution did you encode it at?
As for your second question, what bit rate is the clip? -
Well i encoded it at 720x480 16:9 resolution. I just think that vp5 dont support 16:9 menues. I was reading reelDVD and there feature listed support for 16:9 ratio.
To the second problem, it was encoded at 6000 bitrate CBR with audio at 192. Using those settings on SVCD works fine. But When it is converted to True DVD compliant such as VOB it will run faster causing it to playback choppy. I cant figure out y. -
If the menu is an mpeg movie file, and the program is the same, and they're both 16:9, they should both display the same.
You must have done something different.
Also, the DVD spec calls for vbr, not cbr. Although SVCD plays fine on your player, it's using a different lasor for DVD. That may be the problem. -
I re encoded using vbr, but the problem isnt with a standalone dvd player, its on a test playback before the burn, so it loads the Disk image in the emulated drive and plays it using the dvd software (powerDVD 4.0). But for some reason the dvd (vob) play back is bad.
I havnt even got to burn it because the test playback is so choppy. -
Are you running WinXP? Have you tried playback in Windows Media Player? For some reason playback on my PowerDVD in emulation is choppy but does fine in Windows Media. Although Windows Media player seems to choke on menuing. If it plays ok in WMP then I'd go ahead and burn.

Upadate: It seems downloading and installing all the updates to VP5 fixes the emulator jerky video in PowerDVD. At least it did for me.
