  1. I use CCE2.5 to create my home movies to SVCD. My source file is *.AVI captured from a D8 cam, edited and rendered with MainConcept codec. I'm using the following avs script file:

    AviSource("c:\movie.avi")
    BicubicResize(480,480)
    ResampleAudio(44100)

    Encoding video with CCE is fine as well as audio with TMPGenc. But when muxing with bbmpeg, I get lots of video PTS/DTS underflow. When I playback to my Pioneer 535 DVD player, some parts of the video are jumpy.

    Am I using a valid script file? What should be the video settings of CCE?
    Any help is very much appreciated.

    Pioneers tend to have problems with high bitrate levels. The specs allow for 2.6Mbits but for Pioneers I don't recommend going over 2.5Mbits.

    PTS/DTS underflows are common. Usually they don't cause any problems but in your case I would set bbmpeg force mux rate to 0, which just means auto. This should eliminate any underflows. To prevent an overabundunce of underflows in future encodes make sure your max bitrate doesnt go over 2.6Mbits.

  4. OK, here's my video setting in CCE:

    CBR, 2520 Bitrate, Mpeg2
    Add sequence end code
    Upper field first
    Luminance level 16 to 235
    Aspect Ratio DAR 4:3
    GOP M=3 N/M=5
    Sequence header every 1 GOP
    Image Quality Priority = 25
    Anti noise filter = 6

    For bbmpeg, I'm using the default settings:

    VBR
    Add SVCD scan offsets
    Write program end code
    Timestamps = All frames
    Pulldown = Auto
    Forced mux rate = 6972
    Pack Option size = 2324 bytes
    Packets/Pack = 1
    Video buffer size = 230
    Audio 1 buffer size = 4
    Audio 2 buffer size = 4
    Startup Delays Pack=0 Video=180 Aduio1=180 Audio2=180

    When I open the avs script file with Media Player, it plays fine but I noticed that any moving clip (slow or fast) has its edges somewhat zigzagged. But for a *.D2V file, everything is smooth and clear. Again here is my avs script file:

    AviSource("C:\movie.avi")
    BiCubicResize(480,480)
    ResampleAudio(44100)

    I have ripped DVD movies, encoded with CCE and muxed with bbmpeg and everything is fantastic. The only difference this time is I'm encoding an *.AVI file and not a *.D2V file. Do I need to add more lines in my avs script file?

    Oh yes, one more thing, I have encoded the same AVI file with TMPGenc (Mpeg2 SVCD, CBR, 2520 bitrate) and the final output is excellent although it took more time to encode than CCE. But how come the file size from TMPGenc is 812MB whereas in CCE it's 516MB only? I used the same bitrate (2520) in both encoders. I hope all you video experts can help me with this.

    Thanks...
