I have just bought a Canopus ADVC55 analogue-to-digital converter on the basis of the excellent performance of an ADVC 300 unit that I purchased a year ago.
Problem is that its operation is only intermittant. Worked fine straight out the box converting 3 hours of home recorded VHS tape without dropping a frame. Next time I tried to use it the status indicator would not change from red to green as Windows XP booted up. Moved unit to another machine and the same thing happened. Worked once then stopped.
Manual says that red light status indicator means that the unit:
1. Ceases DV stream output receiving a deck-halt command from computer;
2. Can not produce normal DV stream output because of excess fluctations of cynchronization signals;
3. Detects macrovision signals from video deck.
Any advice on what the problem might be and how to fix it.

Addendum
The real question I should have asked is 'what is a deck-halt command'. Could not find it in a Google search. If anyone can advise on how to reset this it would be most appreciated. Thanks.
