I ripped an Abbot & Costello DVD. I used Smartripper and DVD2AVI and Tmpgenc. When I play the mpeg file the sound is twice the normal speed and sounds like chipmunks. the video is normal speed. I went back and played the wav file that DVD2AVI produced and it sounds the same as the mpeg file? This is the only ripped DVD I have done that has this problem. The DVD plays normal on the computer and stand alone. I have learned alot from this site.
Smartripper 2.35
DVD2AVI 1.74
TMPGenc 2.51.33.127

I don't know if this would have anything to do with it, but abbott & costello dvd's are in dolby digital mono. The bit rate is more then likely different for the audio and the mono aspect may also have something to do with what has occurred with your audio. As far as correcting something like that I'm not sure. But I figured I'd add this amount to at least give the other pro's here something to think about and possibly help you out better with.
I'm not that familiar with dvd ripping, Only done one or two and haven't had a problem as of yet, but I figure the digital mono has something to do with what has happened with you.

A buddy of mine had this exact same problem. He tried 2 different dvd players and they both did the same thing. It ended up being the isa sound card. He changed it to a pci and has not had a problem with it since.
