    Hi
I recently bought a new laptop with a DVD-R drive it's my first one so i'm completly confused by it all!

I have downloaded Daniusoft DVD copy so that i can back up some of my films that are copy protected as my partner has a habbit of not putting them back in their cases and they get scratched & ruined, but when i put the disk into the drive it wont even recognize it what do i do? Windows help wont actually help and i cant open it in my computer and it wont even play on the CyberLink Power DVD player (default on my computer) like my non protected DVD's will (I used NTI CD&DVD-Maker 7 to back up my other films)

    Can you help?

    Thanks
    Leah

  4. You could go into the control panel and uninstall the dvd burner in device manager and then select scan for hardware changes. This will detect the dvd drive and put the disc back in. See if it will then be detected.

I have more questions then answers.

This disc might also be from a different region.

You could alter the region of your drive by going into the drive properties.

Be careful with doing this, because you only get about four changes before it becomes permanent.

You could also look for firmware that would make your drive region free.

Is the disc scratched or dirty in any way?
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.
