I need a name brand DVD player that supports jacket pictures. A 'jacket picture' is a picture of choice when user stops playback of DVD on supported DVD players. Is there anyway to tell whether a DVD Player supports this or not?

    Thanks

Actually, a Jacket Picture is a preset image that is included during the authoring process, although some players do allow you to select an image for use as a type of screen saver.

While I understand that they exist, I have never seen one (or frankly, seen the use for the feature). It is also not a feature available for searching by in our database.

Sony seems to be a brand that does support the feature on some models (gotta love google), although I am not sure that would ever be enough to make me buy a Sony player. Not particularly anti-Sony, just not a big fan of their players.

I've never heard of that before, so your options are going to be small on this one. I also don't recommend Sony. I bought one some years ago for my brother as a Christmas gift and I would never do so again.

My Philips DVP3960 players support this... I have a lot of DVD's I wasn't aware had this feature until I bought a few of these players. YMMV.

Very few commercial discs bother, in part because so few players actually support them, and because it is a pointless function for most people.
