I purchased an LG DR787T (NTSC) recently & wanted to know if there is a hack to make it multi regional & if so, will the hack cause the unit to record in another format, i.e. PAL. I tried searching the forum but didn't find the answer.

There may or may not be a hack. Not all players can be hacked. But if there is a hack, all it will do is remove region coding. It will not enable you to record in PAL format.

Our DVDRs record in all-region mode, so any rec you make will play in any other region machine.
A typical "hack" is for playback of DVDs from other people/countries, which may not be what you were asking about? -
The reason I was wondering is because I saw an LG DR787 on a web page for an electronics store around the Chicago area. I won't mention any names as I don't know if that is allowed.Their unit will record whatever you format you input.
There is one other question I have about the 787T: Does it have a "Manual" setting so that you can fine tune the bit rate to the disc you're using. I have an International type Pioneer DVR-320s that allows you to do this.
