  1. Hello all,

I use Premiere Pro 2.0 to capture/transfer DV to HDD, edit and post process. Usually I copy the whole tape, rather than parts, just to save time. Recently, I received few tapes which have multiple time stamps, gaps and what not.. so I am facing a hard time to copy these tapes. Premiere Pro stops to copy when it detects gap or different time stamp.

I am looking for an utility that will ignore all these things and just copy every piece of video it finds on the tape.

Many thanks for your suggestions in advance.

    Try WinDV.

  3. Thanks Baldrick,
I know there is one more DVIO, but honestly, I am too busy to give a try. Looking for someone who has tried something in the similar case as mine.

Use WinDV, like Baldrick said. There's a setting for it to create a new file when it detects a time stamp change: Discontinuity threshold. See the interactive screenshot on the WinDV home page.

I don't recall what mine's set to, but it works as expected.

  5. I tried both, WinDV and DVIO, none worked. WinDV keeps saying its capturing, without any sign of any file !!
    DVIO, just didn't work.

  6. Try our software. Data will only get written to the AVI file when there are valid frames coming from the camera. The display that shows you how much has been captured will keep ticking though during the blank parts since it is a fairly dumb counter.
