How do I join two sub/idx files? I use Subtitle Workshop for .srt files, but it does not support sub/idx. Should I just convert them to .srt?

Install VobSub_2.23.exe which has: DirectShow subtitle filter for all software video players. It also contains a subtitle filter for Virtualdub and some useful subtitles utilities such as subresync than can convert idx/sub to srt text subtitles, submux, vobsub cutter, sub cutter and joiner.

I have only ever used the cutter but not the joiner. However after installing V2.23 your vsfilter becomes V.23 which is back level and you will have problem player some videos, your player stops starting the video play, where the V2.23 will have problem loading up some srt subtitles. Overcome this problem by installing VSFilter / DirectVobSub to V2.37 or V.2.39.

subtitle creator is the best solution.
Process: select "Join subtitle" from file menu. Then open the 1st srt file from "File menue". It will appear down side. Then right click on the last line & select "insert after" option. then import the 2nd file. just save as srt file from File menu.
    Thats It!!!

Which makes it a pretty lousy solution as you have to OCR to SRT. Use the VobSub Joiner utility that comes with VobSub. You have to find the exact length of the Part 1 AVI (VDub(Mod)) so you can tell it where the Part 2 timestamps will begin. That keeps it as IDX/SUB.

Not really as the new beta of SubtitleCreator allow to save srt files that refer to images thus without OCRing.

  6. Oh, I didn't realize a full OCR wasn't needed. An Automatic OCR? I haven't used yours, but the one in DVDSubEdit sucks. Yours doesn't make mistakes? And what if you want the original font, colors, positioning, size of the DVD subtitles? I can't stand SRT subs.

    Hi,

Actually it's not an OCR. It's just a new custom srt format that allows SubtitleCreator to save the subtitles as bitmaps (a bit like the SON format). You can open them later, this even allows you to import your own bitmaps and save them finally to sup or sub/idx.

    Just for information.

    Cheers
