What tmpgenc version ? You might be able to import mp4 if you can play the mp4 using wmp. If you can't then install haali media splitter and ffdshow.

But you can also convert using super:
What video and audio codec are you using? I guess it would be easiest to use divx/xvid with mp3. Or huffyuv video and wav audio.

	tmpgenc plus 2.5

i set the output to avi/mpeg4/mp3, rendered file optimizer to divx
-
the way i understand all this is

avi is a file 'wrapper' / extension for holding a video stream & a audio stream

 MP4 is also a wrapper/extension format for holding/muxing video & audio streams

mpeg4 is the basic codec, dvix and xvid are sub-variations of this codec

an MP4 file is NOT an avi file

my_vid.avi is NOT the same as my_vid.mp4

although both can use mpeg4 codecs and mp3 audio

and the only thing i ever used tmpgenc for was to make mpeg1 or mpeg2 files for burning to vcd and dvd,

i have never used it to make AVI files

for that I usually use Super
