Hi all
The time has come where i need help from you experts again... =)
Scenario/what i know:
1. I have some HD 720i files that i need to convert to MPEG2.
2. The output files are supposed to run on some small LCD screens.. or infact...
it's a combined player and monitor , screen has aprox same size as a DVD case.
3. I'm located in Europe/Sweden (don't know if that matters vs. region/pal/ntsc formats etc etc)
4. The files will be stored on SD cards, and put into these screens/players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Challenge:
1. Some source files comes in 25 fps, others in 29,97 fps
2. I'm not entirely sure wich MPEG2 format to choose
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on the info above..and my vague knowledge about the complexes of mpeg2, i get a bit unsure what to do =)
Should i:
- Use both PAL and NTSC top solve 25/29,97 fps problem (and avoid blending/chopping)
- what about aspect ration for the formats above.
- Can i make just any MPEG2 i like? i.e "PAL" 30 FPS (thats wouldnt be PAL .. i know)
I exspect to use Vegas 7 and Premiere CS3 + mainconcept mpeg encoder.. but i'm not forced to use any of them.
Let me know what u think
Thanks
Jakob

Sounds like some sort of PC rather than a DVD player, this opens up a world of possibilities.
As mentioned, find the system specs.
Also, even if not in the spec, try your clips as-is, they just might play. Continue this trial procedure as you go thru conversion steps, you may be able to save yourself a lot of time. Very likely PAL-NTSC is not going to matter.
Any clues as to the make and model of the playback unit? -
until you can get more specific info about the hardware in the player and the size in pixels of the screen all one can do is guess. and it's likely you could try infinite variations and never get a video to play without the specs. even with the specs it's hard to make a playable video for some mp3/video players.

i used ConvertXtoDVD 3 great little tool
Used the wizard..and selected "my player can handle both 25 and 30 fps"
It create a vob set wich the players could play with no problem.
i still dont have the specs.. and it seems i dont need them in this case =)
