I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I'm having. I started with a project in iMovie prior to getting FCE. I logged over 500+ clips using iMovie, and once FCE was loaded on my computer, I imported the entire project from iMovie to FCE. The clips are all in DV format, which I've been told isn't the best format to use in FCE or FCP. Anyway, my problem is I can't add video filters to my clips (which I originally attributed to the DV format). I imported raw video footage that I have on my hard drive that is in AVI format, but that won't work either. I can't add video filters to any of my clips within this particular project. So I'm assuming now that I didn't set the preferences or settings correctly from the get go when I imported this project from iMovie.

Has anyone else ran into this problem or does anyone have suggestions that I can try out?

DV Stream is FINE for FCE and FCP.
Whoever said that must have either not known Mac specifics,
or likes to hear his / her own voice, even in saying something stupid.

The most likely problem is that your Project settings for FCP /FCE
    aren't correct.

What happens if you create a new Project, set for DV-NTSC,
at DVD Spec ( 720 x 480) and simply create a new log Bin,
and import the footage DIRECTLY from where it is stored
on the HD, not the iMovie Project?

I believe this will fix your issue.
