OK, I know what Interlaced is.
I also thought I knew what's non-interlaced. I learned that back in the days that you could still get interlaced monitors and should have looked for non-interlaced ones.
Now I see that people are using 'progressive' to describe a scenario that the complete picture is being shown, as opposed to interlaced. So on one hand, it seems to me that 'Non-interlaced' and 'Progressive' are just two terms for the same thing, yet TMPGenc still seem to have all three options to describe as 'source'.
So what's the difference?

My TMPGenc now lists just Interlaced and Non-Interlace(Progressive). I'm pretty sure they are the same thing, although I think you can de-interlace to get non-interlaced but progressive is as originally created, I think that's a definite maybe.
Just to further confuse matters, I think also that if you IVTC a clip then it is progressive as opposed to non-interlaced but I think both terms apply.
Gosh, I hope that helps, I know it sure cleared it up for me
