    Hello everyone,
Is there a way to tell if my Handycam is a Pal or NTSC system ? I received my Sony DCR-DVD403 as a birthday present 2 years ago, and I'm not sure where it was bought from, the reason I need to know which system it is because of a seperate underwater lens that connects to the Handycam and the manufacture needs to know which system it is, to be able to operate the external u/w system.
    Thanks

Transfer some footage to your PC and look at the resolution. 720 x 480 is NTSC, 720 x 576 is PAL.

If you have loaded a clip into Vegas, right-click on the clip on the timeline and select Properties. This should tell you what the original clip is.

  6. Another way to tell is from the camcorder's model number. For PAL units from Europe, they have an E suffix.

BTW, I'm rather puzzled as to why the underwater housing supplier needs to know NTSC vs. PAL for the lens. I could understand it if the housing has an external LCD display though.

It's not a housing, it's a monopod with a lens at the bottom of it used for swimming coaches. check their websites, it's an awesome system that I've been using and getting another one soon. http://coachcam.biz/index.html
