I have a four core processor. Can i run multple instances of tmpgenc if i am using the 2-pass method to convert avi to mpeg2?
I was wondering how the "stats file" works. If i use multiple instances to process video in virtualdub i rename the stats file each time, but cannot see how to do that in tmpgenc. Perhaps it's not necessary?
Thanks in advance

The short answer is that you cannot.
In order to do this you would have to split the source into 4 parts, and process each part separately, then bring them back together again. FAVC used to do this with HCEnc before it became multi-processor aware.
My recommendation would be to move up to a better encoder that can fully utilise the power you have available to you.Read my blog here.
