    QUESTION #1
I am playing a movie DVD on WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

I have tried making a snapshot using the PRINT SCREEN KEY but when I paste and save it in MS PAINT all I get is a *.jpeg file of a blank screen.

Is there a free software to take a screen shot off of WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER?

    QUESTION #2
For all my Microsoft Office 2007 stuff (WORD, PUBLISHER, EXCEL) do I set my default to a specific font? All my documents start with some wierd font type - I want ARIEL

Thanks everyone. This is a great forum!

    1) If you disable hardware acceleration you can take screenshots, in wmp11 under tools->options->performance and disable turn on directx video acceleration for wmv files. In wmp 10 it's under tools->options->performance and drag the bar. Or use Media PLayer Classic to play the video and choose File->Save Image.

    1. You may be viewing in overlay mode. If so, the screenshot will be blank. I don't use WMP much, so if that's the problem, not sure of a simple cure. WMP does allow me to take screenshots with Vista WMP.

  4. There are other ways too:

Play a video in another player first. That player will get video overlay. Don't close this player. Then play the video you want to snapshot in WMP.

Turn off Video Overlay in your graphics card's drivers. This isn't recommended because you lose a lot of video features and CPU consumption will increase.

  5. In Windows 7 you can...
    • go to the start menu and in the search line type regedit and click enter.
    • Click 'Yes' on UAC popup and locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Service\Video
    • Now when that is located on the left pane move cursor to right pane and right click anywhere and and select New
    • then select DWORD Value, and this will create a new DWORD for your system.
    • Then right click on newly created 'New Value' and rename this key to EnablePrintScreen
    • and right click on it, select Modify and set its value to 1
    • When finished click OK and must restart PC for it to take effect.
Screen captures now no longer have black screen, fullscreen or partial.

    Hope this helps
