  1. I'm having this problem where I am opening up vob videos (from dvd rips usually), it's the full file (a music video in this case) and it will say it's only 12 to 14 seconds long, if i dont do anything, it'll play those seconds (while the slider remains more at the beginning of the file). If i move the slider, it will skip ahead to that part of the video - showing that the full file is there. It'll then play again, for maybe 12-14 seconds, before stopping - unless I move the slider again.

I'm thinking this is more of a problem (maybe a missing header in the vob file?). Or is it VLC? Anyone know what to do or have any suggestions?

Sounds like the file is incomplete. VLC will try its best to play whatever you throw at it; if parts of the file are missing, it will skip to whatever it can play.

  3. is there a way to repair the file? or will a re-conversion be the only way?

Since you are talking vob files, they aren't converted anyway. You simply need to re-rip the dvd.
