  1. I used the trial for DVD Lab Pro to author three projects. The first went fine. The movie and trailer were both 16:9 so I used the normal set up of VTS menu + movie and it worked. The second and third projects had 16:9 and 4:3 assets so I used the advance VMG + VTS menu + movie setup. When they finished authoring, the first VTS of each were authored but not the second ones nor the main IFO files. I'm not sure what I've done wrong and I don't want to bother getting the full version of the program unless I'm sure I can use it. I've used DVDAuthorGUI on a lot of stuff so I'm not completely new to DVD authoring. While the folder was created with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders, there is a file called vts.bin in the same folder.

Usually this happens when DLP is unhappy with an asset. Start by posting the compile log.

  3. Where does one find the log? Is it in the application folder?

  5. I tried the two projects again. Since I deleted the elements for the trailer for one of them, I did that one as just normal setting with the menu and movie and that one worked. The multi-VTS one seemed to compile fine. There were no errors in the log and the titles are all there but when I try to open it, it cannot open VIDEO_TS.IFO. I right clicked it and the main menu came up but there was no cursor. When I right-clicked VTS_O1.IFO, the main menu came up as well as the cursor. Is there a way to fix the VIDEO_TS.IFO file because I've already deleted the streams and the menu BMPs?

You can delete the existing IFOs and use IFOEdit to create a new set. I would take a copy of the old ones first.

However this won't fix any problems that have come from the authoring. Never, ever, delete your assets until your output is fully tested and you have a finished copy burned and playable.

  7. I still have no idea why the VIDEO_TS.IFO does not work. I think I created it correctly. Since the two extras had different aspect ratios, I made the extras menu a second VMG menu so it link to different VTS. The main menu was also a VMG menu while the chapter menus for the main movie were part of the movie's VTS.

Once again, the compile log did not say anything was wrong. I don't understand why the cursor does not move or select on the main menu in the VIDEO_TS.IFO but it will on the VTS_01.IFO.

What are you testing them with ?

Try doing a test project. This will replace the assets with dummies, but let you test the menus. If this works, then one of your assets is the problem (probably AC3 audio), and you will have to use process of elimination to work out which.
