    MPEG burning

Ok,so I just found out that I dont need to convert mpeg videos for burning and that Mpeg videos are readily burned on dvd and can be watched on the TV My only problem is that how can I add sofsubs to the video?I tried saving the subs in the same folder as the video and then burn them all onto a dvd as a data dvd but the subs won't appear and only the video is playing. And,is it possible for me to add chapters and menus and resizing script on a data DVD to be watched on TV??Im trying to not convert my mpg files to vob anymore cuz the quality is not affected at all without converting them.
I can't live without my computer.

Not all players will play mpeg files that are not authored, and very few (if any) will see external subs. None will allow for menus and chapters. If you want all these features, you have to author the files as a DVD.

If your mpg files are already DVD compliant then there is no quality loss when you author (assuming you use the correct tools). Use the latest g-spot to determine if your mpg files are ready for authoring.

Perhaps you should look at an authoring program that does not insist on "converting" MPEG. Some, like Nero, will reencode almost always, taking a long time and degrading the video.

If the MPEG is DVD compliant (see http://www.videohelp.com/dvd for the specs), converting it to VOB is just repackaging the same data, will be visually identical, and almost the same file size.

I use GuiforDVDAuthor, it has all the extras (menus, subtitles, chapters, etc) you mention and takes your word for it that the video is correct.
