    Hello all,

I recently downloaded a file that I wish to stream to my Xbox 360, the problem is this.

The file has two audio tracks, the first audio track (default) is french. The second audio track is english.

I understand english. Any suggestions as how I can switch the default audio track permanantly on the file itself? Choosing your audio track isnt an option on my 360 as it might be in VLC.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It depends on what the file really is. If it is just an Xvid/Divx encoded AVI then virtualdubmod will let you change the order of tracks by opening the Stream List (Streams -> Stream List) and then selecting a track and moving it up or down. You can then save a new file in Direct Stream Copy mode (for both video and audio) without re-encoding. Should take around 3 minutes.

Sorry, cant believe I forgot to list the format.

Xvid - trying Virtual Dub Mod as we speak...

Edit: - You rock!! This was an easy fix. Unfortunately I have 22 episodes per season and.. 5 seasons to do this too. Any way of automating this?

    Thanks again

I don't know of a way to automate it in virtualdubmod, although it may be possible.

One alternative is to use this tool : http://www.snapfiles.com/get/nmacrorecorder.html to create a macro to control virtualdubmod from the point after loading the file up until it is ready to be saved. You can then load the file, run the macro, save the file and move on. Doesn't process a whole list, but it cuts out some of the work.

thanks again for the help, im going to research automating the whole process. Perhaps see if there is a command line utility that will allow me to do some of this.

    Appreciate your help!

this is what i found, and it is SUPER FAST!!!
and no synch issues, timing everything is perfect!!!
i found it here on an archive from a google search

    AVIMux_GUI will also do it.
    Similar process.
Load up the file, then uncheck the audio you do not want.
It then renders a new avi file with the one audio track.

the only instruction that was missing was to make sure
that you uncheck where it says "all audio streams" and "all subtitles"
other than that, it is actually that simple, and it only takes about 2
minutes to convert/remove audio from an hour and a half movie!!!

i tried the virtualdubmod mode, but for some reason it made a huge
file, i think it was like 9gb, and it took forever!!

anyway, for me, AVIMux_GUI is definitely the way to go,
works fantastic, exact duplication, no encoding done, no waiting,
no synch issues, blah blah blah....you get my drift...check it out..
i did, and will forever keep this utility!!!! excellent...
thank you david k for this tip (the original poster)

If you use virtualdub/mod, use Direct Stream Copy mode and take the same amount of time as AVIMux GUI. However both have the same problem - the OP needs to be able to batch process a large number without having to configure each one. Otherwise they could just use Virtualdub's job control
