    I've got several 222 mb tv show episodes I want to make smaller using a divx codec. How do I do that?

    I've tried that and every single time, I keep making the file larger, instead of smaller

    Well, you have to configure the codec. The larger the average bitrate the larger the final filesize ( and vice versa).
