  4. i think u mean incomplete download (right?) try to fix it with VideoRedo if it's a Mpeg2 video i think it can handle incomplete videos.

There is another software "video fixer" that might help you (that's for wmv, avi, rmvb mainly)

  7. So i think the term you wanna use is "corrupted file"

VLC can play incomplete/corrupted videos, i always use it in such situation.

But you should fix it (once & for good) with the tools videoredo, video fixer etc.. depending on what type of file it is.

I have no idea what format you are asking about, but, wild guess, Xvid or a similar AVI type format.

If a major part of the file is missing, not a lot of hope. If the aforementioned VLC won't play it, then you could try VirtualDub and see if it can open and repair it. Xvids and similar have a index at the end of the file. If it's missing, very hard to fix.

If it's off the net as in a torrent file, the missing pieces may be all through the video. If not, maybe just the index is damaged.

I'll have to tell you, I've had about a ten percent success rate in fixing broken AVIs off the net. Once in a while you get lucky, but most times, just a waste of time and energy. DivxFix never worked for those type of problems.

  10. On the basis of the information supplied so far, you might try standing on one foot.

Format of file? (If you say AVI, I will personally jump thru the screen and beat you with a stick. Same as saying unknown.)

    Playtime, in minutes?

    Size of File in MB?

Source of file? If downloaded, just say so. Specify if torrent. If from camera or other, specify.

What have you tried to play it with?

What does VLC do when this is tried? If you can't make even that much effort, then never mind.

  12. HEY, DUMBASS!! Did you not read the part about AVI?? WHAT FREAKING KIND OF AVI?

How About filesize? These two link together. Depending on the compression, which is what the type of AVI will indicate, the filesize IN MEGABYTES will indicate quickly and clearly whether or not there is actually anything present.

A CAMSTUDIO file, goody. Created on your PC or some other?

    Is your hard drive Fat32?

I have to make so many wild guesses because YOU ARE NOT SUPPLYING ANY USEFUL INFORMATION.

I asked specific, pointed, clear questions in an attempt to gain enough information to arrive at a reasonable solution to the issue. You failed to answer most of them.

You may or may not be bright enough to notice that you not only have not gotten a solution to your problem, but that most have given up, likely in complete disgust.

Now, if you're drunk, English is not your primary language, you are 12 years old or less, or have some kind of brain damage, please specify. Otherwise, either supply more information or just try rubbing the monitor real hard.

  13. Open your file in Gspot or MediaInfo. Those programs will list all the properties of the video. Post the results here.

  14. jace89,

Please don't post more than once on the same topic. Your other post has been locked. Also you need to provide more info.

    This was your other post:

Given the above I'd say your video file is likely to be unrecoverable. Try the suggestions already mentioned and post the results.
