First of all, hi to everyone and thank you in advance.
I've read several threads discussing this issue but none seem to specifically address my problem:
I'm trying to play an AVI file encoded with an AC3 audio channel. After installing AC3Filter, MPC and WMP both play it with no problem, that is, 5.1 sound. But VLC is the only player that seems to play this file with no visual corruption (some purple image "ghosting" whenever the camera pans over)
Anyway, in VLC's preferences I have the "use spdif" option checked, as well as "win32 waveout" selected as output. I've read people say they select "A/52 over spdif" when the video is playing in order to get 5.1 sound, but I only get 2 options: mono and stereo. What am I doing wrong? What do I have to do to get 5.1 audio using the spdif output?
Thanks
