I posted this in the GEAR forum but no reply and I'm hoping to get this thing done today, so hoping someone sees my post![]()
GEAR was able to import my VIDEO_TS files and didn't complain about anything. But I wanted to verify that the layer break point was set correctly by following this guide:
http://www.gearsoftware.com/howtoguides/dvdvideobreakpoint.cfm
The total volume in sectors is 4,131,776 and in the log window when I imported the VIDEO_TS, it says DVD9Layer2SplitOffest=257,806 in the log. But that appears to be entirely wrong!!
So, I downloaded the spreadsheet calculator and followed the directions. At the end of the calculation, the calculator tells me sector 2,069,968 or 129,373 ECC blocks. I should probably mention that the final calculation was based on "To align this position with an ECC boundary, move the entire image forward by 10 sectors"
SO... When I imported the VIDEO_TS (and then my ROM folder), the ECC for the layer break was reported as 257,806 and the calculator tells me the correct one is 129,373.
Upon browsing this forum a bit, I have noticed some discussion on the start sector for VIDEO_TS.IFO is supposed to be 640? On my Encore CS3 imported project, it says 635 - Is this a problem? When I go to enable the option for "ask for start vector at each file," Should I be entering 645 or 650 (adding 10 to 635 or adding 10 to 640)? I also have a ROM folder with about 75 small files - do I need to increase the start sector for every one of those as well?
