    Hello,

I'm looking for a simple and straightforward way to convert DVD's to XviD AVI.

The type of XviD quality that I'm aiming for is the quality that you see common in TV episode conversions (i.e., approximately 700MB for an hour (42-minute) episode at roughly 624x352). I don't need to achieve any particular exact file size or resolution, but the idea is a balance between file size and quality/resolution.

I have both a PC and a Mac. As for ripping to .vob, I've used DVD Decrypter on the PC, and Mac the Ripper on the Mac. It's what to use next and how to use it that I need guidance on. I've tried a few things (including some of the tutorials on this site), but haven't found anything that worked extraordinarily well, so I'd really like to know what you all suggest is the easiest way for me to get to point A (DVD) to point B (XviD AVI).

Thank you very much for the help.

    My best,
    David

PS: I'm also open to abandoning XviD for something else.

AutoGK and FairUse Wizard are two easy programs to try. FUW also has a freeware version.
