    Hello...

I want to take my uncompressed AVID media file (a 6 gigabyte video file, with at least 4 audio tracks), and convert it to an MPEG4. How do I do this?

Is it possible to export it directly from Avid without having to use an intermediate step like quicktime or sorenson squeeze? If not, what should I use to make this work?

    Thanks for the help!!

I guess you want a mp4 with mpeg4 video with 4 audio tracks?

I doubt that you can convert directly to a mp4 with 4 audio tracks in avid. I would convert the video(to h264 video) and audio(to aac audio) separate and them mux to a mp4 using yamb.

  4. depends on what Avid software you're using

However pretty much all versions can export to mov and then you can find freeware to convert mov to ipod/iphone compatible files

all versions come with a quicktime codec, so you don't need quicktime pro
    Sorenson is basically for mpeg2
