I am trying to get all my DVD's onto my PC and then stream them to my PS3 using the Windows Media Player media server.

The beset way i have found so far is to rip the dvd using dvdshrink and then just rename the file from .vob to.avi. the PS3 will then play it.

However it is still really a .vob (accoring to Gspot Video Identifier) and so abcAVI Tag editor will not allow me to add details to its tag. This means that the PS3 cant group it or anything .

am i doing this the best way and how can i add details to a .vob such as title, year, genre, actors etc.

    Have you actually tried it?
I'm not sure the PS3 will recognize an .avi extension...
You might be able to stream the vob directly w/o converting, try it....
    I don't stream with WMP,I use TVersity...
Use something like XviD4PSP to convert your DVD to a format the PS3 will support,as in PS3/Xbox format...

So your'e saying that you changed extension (not convert) from .vob to .avi and "streamed to PS3?
Or are you just playing it successfully on PC? That does work yes!..
b/c I can't seem to "stream" a file by only changing a .vob extension to an .avi extension to the PS3,thus far..ummh!
