Is it possible to finalise and unfinalise for DVD-RW so that I can test out my movie's quality. If it sucks.I can unfinalise it and erase the data on the disc.

No need to unfinalise, just erase and record again. Most DVD Recorders will prompt for this if necessary, as will Imgburn on the PC.

But the video file(converted to VOB) is from my PC and I burned it to DVD-RW and testing it on a DVD Player,so I just erase it?

If it is an RW, then yes. If you have Imgburn, put the disc in, select Write Files/Folders to disc, then use Tools->Drive->Erase Disc (or similar)

FWIW, when I got my Panasonic DVDR, I used DVD-RW (labelled Maxell, but actually identified as Optodisc) which I erased/recorded on the PC or the recorder - indiscriminately.
I quickly found the the disks failed after a short time .
Performing a full erase (as opposed to a quickie) recovered some for a short time, but they eventually quit.
The surviving disks from the package I segregated into two groups, one to record and erase on the PC, the other on the recorder (of course they could play anywhere).
Those disks have given no problems over the last two years.

  6. I have some Verbatim DVD+RW discs that I've erased and rewritten hundreds of times. I usually end up dropping and/or scratching them long before they "wear out".

I have both Verbatim and TDK -RWs that are all still going strong after quite a bit of use. Nothing lasts forever, but crap fails sooner than quality as a general rule. That said, it is still a far cheaper option that burning coasters for testing.
