So, I'm pretty green. I've been trying without success to install the binaries on ffmpegx, but whenever I try, this error message comes up:

##rcmd: getaddrinfo: No address associated with nodename
tar (child): /Applications/Audio\:Visual/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/mux.tgz: Cannot open: (null)
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
    /Applications/Audio:Visual/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/gnutar: Child returned status 2
/Applications/Audio:Visual/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/gnutar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

What did I do? What should I do?

Probably better asked and answered in our ffmpegX general discussion Forum. Moving you.

    And welcome to our forums.

Do not put ffmpegX in a folder called "Audio/Visual". Try to avoid the "/" character in folder names and file names on Mac OS X. Not every application has built-in routines to check for these 'illegal' characters and work around it.
