I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 with Windows Vista Ultimate, and I'd like to transfer some old VHS tapes to DVD. Back when I was using Windows XP, Vegas and other applications would recognize the capture card, and I'd be able to capture with no problem. Under Vista, though, Vegas doesn't recognize the Hauppauge. It returns a message that some other software is currently using the card.
I suppose I could use the Windows Media Center to capture the tapes, but it allows only one type of setup. If you've configured it to use the tuner with analogue cable, for example, you have to re-configure the software to use S-Video. You can't simply switch inputs. At least, I haven't been able to figure out how. I'd appreciate any ideas and suggestions. And no, dumping Vista for XP isn't an option at this point.
