    Hello, I'm after some help.
I have been searching to no avail for any sofware, in which you are able to add tags, or timestamps to a video file.

Scenario is, we have captured a video file of an event, or a meeting with audio that is long. We want to watch the file and add tags/notes at specific times. For example when the Topic changes from A to B. This tagging if possible should also allow start and end points if that makes sense, and if possible have maybe a graphical interface which shows the tags as lines/bars as different layers?

The benefit of this would be that other people can open that file and go to the point within the files which they want to look at. The movie file doesn't need to be exported, even viewing the file in that same application is fine.
Can anyone think of any software that can do that?

You may be out of luck.

Video from a minidv camera (or better) may have date / time embedded in the metadata along with other information such as exposure information etc. I believe there are some apps out there that can extract that info and embed it onto your footage. But that won't give you a description of what you are looking at.

In my endeavors, I've used chapter marks (in vegas) to divide my video up for navigation and overlayed some text to give the date / time and any other information. I understand this can also be done with subtitles (for DVD). Others may have better ideas.
