I'm not a newbie to burning, authoring, or converting DVD's, but maybe I'm just having a stroke of stupidity this morning. I have DVD compliant files ready to go, but I want to add an 'Extras' folder to the disk as well that will only hold things like txt files and jpegs of the DVD labels, etc. for use on the computer. The DVD files themselves should play normally on a standalone player. I can't, for the life of me, remember how to this.
I'm trying to do this in Nero 7 Ultra, by the way. Thanks guys.

At the top level of your disk, you have 2 folders called:
AUDIO_TS
VIDEO_TS
AUDIO_TS is normally empty unless you are making a DVD Audio disc. Simply make another folder at the same level and call it whatever you like,
such as:
EXTRAS
and put your files there. Be sure that you have enough space for everything to fit on a single layer DVD unless you are willing to burn with a dual layer disc.
We don't really recommend burning with Nero around here. ImgBurn is free and much more reliable. It's not as intuitive as Nero, but it will give you beter results and fewer coasters. There are guides at the official website on how to use it. -
these are not DVD extras
instead...
if you create a dvd with a menu called extras, you will then feed these items to the authoring application and it will incorporate these assets into the video_ts folder among your reformatted video content files. -
Jman98 offered the most efficient solution; but remember, those extras will only be accessible through your computer, and won't play on a set-top DVD unit. "DVD Extras" are usually incorporated into the DVD-compliant files with the authoring program, so that they are accessible through the main menu of the DVD movie. (Standalone, set-top DVD players don't show text files. Your texts should be converted to video images using the authoring program.) And no, Nero is not great at authoring either. You may want to look under the Tools section for DVD authoring programs.

Ok, it was as easy as just selecting the Video_TS folder and then the Extras folder and burning them to disk...couldn't have been easier.
I don't know why Nero wouldn't allow me to do this, but no matter. Maybe I'll use ImgBurn from now on for burning everything. Nero Recode is a great program though...not ditching that one.
